RSU/ESPP Value Calculator

What's your RSU or ESPP grant worth today? Enter one or more tickers and quantities for the live USD/INR value, after forex conversion commission.

Holding US RSU/ESPP shares as an Indian resident? You must report them in Schedule FA of your ITR — non-disclosure carries a ₹10 lakh/year penalty under the Black Money Act, regardless of the value. This calculator only shows today's price; it isn't a Schedule FA filing. Generate your Schedule FA on ITRFA.in →

Leave price override blank to fetch the latest market price automatically. Default commission is a typical broker/bank forex conversion spread — adjust to match your actual rate.

Vest date for RSUs, purchase date for ESPP. Leave FMV blank to auto-fetch the market price on that date.

Schedule FA (AY 2022-23 onward) reports the calendar year (Jan–Dec), not the Indian financial year — values below are for the calendar year containing your acquisition date.

Have more than one grant?

Upload your Fidelity, Schwab, or E*TRADE files — the Schedule FA generator values every lot you hold, aggregates them into Table A2/A3, and gives you a filing-ready Excel and JSON.

How this RSU/ESPP value calculator works

Enter the ticker and number of shares for each grant. The calculator fetches the latest market close for that stock and the latest published SBI TT buying rate (TTBR) — the official USD/INR reference rate, not a generic mid-market quote — to compute the gross INR value. It then subtracts a forex conversion commission (default ₹0.10/USD, editable) to show a realistic net figure, since your bank or broker takes a spread when the USD actually converts to INR in your account. Add up to 10 tickers to value RSUs and ESPP shares across multiple companies or vest batches in one go. If you'd rather use your own price instead of the live fetch, the optional price override skips the market lookup entirely.

RSU value calculator vs ESPP value calculator

The math for valuing an RSU grant and an ESPP purchase today is identical — quantity × current price, converted to INR. What differs is how each was taxed when you received the shares: RSUs are taxed as salary income on the FMV at vesting, while ESPP shares are taxed on the discount (FMV minus the price you paid) at purchase. This calculator only answers "what are these shares worth today" — for the acquisition-time perquisite value and full Schedule FA reporting, see our RSU Schedule FA guide and ESPP Schedule FA guide.

FAQ

Quantity × latest closing price = USD value, converted to INR at the latest USD/INR rate, minus a forex conversion commission (default ₹0.10/USD, editable) to show what you'd actually receive.

Yes — enter the ticker and share count; the current-value math is the same regardless of whether the shares came from an RSU vest or an ESPP purchase.

Yes — add a row per ticker (up to 10) and the calculator totals the USD and INR value across all of them.

The latest available SBI TT buying rate (TTBR) — the official USD/INR reference rate Rule 115 requires for Indian tax filings, not a generic market rate. See our SBI TTBR lookup for the full history.

Banks and brokers charge a spread converting USD to INR — the raw TTBR-converted figure overstates what you'd actually receive. Edit the default ₹0.10/USD to match your own bank's rate.

Schedule FA needs initial, peak, and Dec 31 closing value using the exact-date SBI TTBR rate per Rule 115 — upload your Fidelity, Schwab, or E*TRADE files to the Schedule FA generator for these figures, computed per lot.
